A bunch of those guys might have demonstrated megalomaniacal tendencies, but that they were (and are) misunderstood is without question. From assertions that they were "bailed out" with "taxpayer money," to conjecture that they put the world financial system at risk, to those folks who expound confidently that it was their quantitative edge that got them in trouble...LTCM was and remains profoundly misunderstood.
