Do those numbers include the spending cuts Davis made this year? I doubt it. Obviously they spent too much. No one has denied that. Bush is also spending too much and taxing too little. Balanced budgets are a good thing. Deficits should only be used strategically and temporarily.

I stadn by what I said about Davis. His charisma was what killed him. His performance was not great but he was victimized by the Texas energy thieves, double whammied by the dot-com collapse and was slow to defend himself and to take retaliatory action. Davis also got zero support form the Bushies. They did everything they could to hurt California while Davis was in charge so they could blame it al on him. Bushies spent some 20 million bucks blaming it all on Davis. Davis should have defended himself much earlier. If he had, and had been a more dynamic candidate, he'd still be in office. This election had nothing to do with major parties and everything to do with personality and somewhat false perceptions. Indeed, Arnold may not be able to solve any of the same problems himself.
