Mike,

There is no denying that Intel is behind (ironically, this inspite of AMD telling the x86-64 plan to the whole world 3 or 4 years back and failing to execute on it for a couple of years).

So, the discussion is not about who is behind but about what AMD can make out the lead given the current OS situation. My thinking is that given how much Windows-64 is delayed, AMD has a pretty weak hand in that space until H2 2004. Until then, all AMD can offer for 90%+ of the desktop market is 32-bit platform.

Assuming Windows-64 comes out in time early H2 2004, AMD, at best, gets benefit of one Christmas. This assumes AMD marketing can make something out of x86-64 hype (if you have followed the company for a while, you will see AMD marketing is pretty weak).
