I'm on the Watcher. And yes, you can SOES MMs when trading gets frantic. Always best to go to the Island which fills faster than you can blink -- even if you are too late to get the shares put out on the Island, the cancellation comes back in sub-blink time.
There is always preferencing via Selectnet. They're supposed to honor your pref, but sometimes they 'forget' when the price is falling fast on the bid or rising fast on the offer. A market order SOES will always gets filled.
Lance, was there anywhere in those 600 posts you read, a discussion of Market Maker styles/techiniques/repeated patterns? This is what I like to see discussed: the modus operandi of Goldman vs MASh vs Merrill vs Sherwood, etc. Anyone out there willing to start. I do know that getting a grasp of their appoaches to trading this is that stock will help improve your trading a whole lot.
