I find more going to into nursing assisted living areas.. sunrise is one that is building all over the place around here... out in the country,, next to local hospitals.. etc. One place not a sunrise but run by quakers.. in Amish country surrounded by farms... It has everything, pool, shops, hobby center, etc.. short distance to town.. I did taxes there for a few years as aarp representative.. People come from other states.. In the five years i went everyone i asked loved the place. I may have asked 750 people over the years and not one negative comment.
Folks move into apartments initially and provide for themselves, next stage may be meals, next assisted living, and then to nursing.
They have to come with a lump sum to get in.. Must have medical coverage but the people there help them with paying bills, services, I was very impressed.. Except do like the idea of all elderly around you would still like a mixed age group as long as possible.
