beware of foreign entanglements. Yes avoiding the UN is certainly avoiding foreign entanglements.

beware the military-industrial complex, is silly today. The size of the US GDP in defense and the defense industry has and is shrinking from year to year. The most complex technology and systems are in the private sector today and not in the military. Far more R&D is for private sector research with nothing to do with the military.

In fact in the last decade the military adopted an extensive COTS program which is in itself a clear indicator of the size and advanced state of the private sector.

And don't be stupid and jump up and say that in the recent few years after 9-11 more money going to defense shows what I said is wrong.
