China still needs to internationalize their universities with high level research that can match those in the US, Japan and Europe. So, for the next 20 years, they'll have to attract high level researchers. When the research level is high and good atmosphere (available fundings plus excellent facilities and lots of research assistants) for thinkers, theoretical scientists, and researchers then that will attract more of the world's best brains. No doubt there will be plenty of top notch research assistants available. This is one aspect that would be interesting to watch, and see what developments will take place. One aspect of the society is the too much respect for the elders and the young scientists would be afraid (or refrain) from bringing out ideas different than their superiors or professors or bosses. That type of character is good for social order, but detrimental to progress particularly in scientific and engineering fields where new discoveries are made by going different paths and ideas.
