Do we honor the sanctity of human life and the human condition in it’s various states of presentation or; do we begin to establish criteria for membership based on the utility of human endeavor

Or do we recognize that our society has limited resources and decide that those resources should not be used to interfere with natural processes when there is no expectation or hope of consciousness?

Put another way, how many babies who could have been saved, how many homeless people who have died on the streets because they didn't have a hospice bed willing to take them in, should we let go in order to have the resources to keep Terry Schiavo's body functioning against the processes of nature?
