I have already PM'd some of you regarding a research paper that I am writing for my MBA class. Just looking for general opinions here regarding what seems to be a wave of new entrants into the market for digital music. It seems that Apple, Roxio, RealNetworks, Buy.com, AOL/MusicNet, and MusicMatch are the current key players, but Dell, HP, Amazon, and Wal-Mart are all in the process of starting their own services. Do any of you feel that digital rights management companies may need to be further probed? It looks like SunnComm is a struggling DRM provider. Anyone have any other DRM providers that have potential? Anyone know of any special contracts that may be in place that would favor any of the above mentioned companies? I think Wal-Mart could come through as the big winner if they use the downloads as a loss leader to attract customers to buy bigger ticket items on their site. I know it already works for my purchase of CD's at their physical locations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have only just begun my research and hope to dig up plenty of quality information.
