The Dems will only win with the middle with someone more centrist than Dean. Polls show about 60% of Americans still generally approve of the war, just not how it was done and how much it ends up costing us. An anti-war candidate cannot beat Bush next year. Only about 30% of the country are anti-war. That's why Dean looks strong now, but would be a weak national candidate. He can energize the white well-educated liberal base, but not the swing-voters.
