Hi FaultLine; Re: "and both seem hell-bent on making it a self-fulfilling prophecy"

Let me quote you to you:

Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie!' till you can find a rock. #reply-18432480

Hey, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Think of the US as the "doggie". What kind of "rock" do you think that the rest of the world imagines is suitable for a doggie that spends damn near 50% of the world's weapons expenditures? A country that can put overwhelming conventional force anywhere in the world in a few months? Butter knives?

No, the policy that YOU supported is what is forcing nuclear proliferation onto the world.

Other countries acknowledge the FACT that the US has proven itself to be an "imminent threat", to small nations, except those that are nuclear armed. With our general's recent comments about Allah being Satan, they have no realistic choice except to arm themselves in defense. They sure as hell ain't gonna convert their citizens over to Christianity any more than our citizens are going to convert over to Islam (though I do note that the Arabs are saying that some of our soldiers who watch over the prisoners in Cuba are being converted by the prisoners).

And while the US is stuck in Iraq, they have a brief period of respite before they have to fear the US again. It's natural that they would take advantage of that respite to get a "rock".
