Mike, here's the other bright spot ...

This league really, really SUXS this year. So, no matter how lousy you play, you can still be standing in the end.

Last year's NFC playoff teams by 2003 winning percentage :

Eagles 3-3
Tampa Bay 3-3
S. Fran 3-4
G. Bay 3-4
Giants 2-4
Falcons 1-6

That is absolutely pathetic; six playoff teams a combined 16 - 24.

AFC isn't much better to be honest:

Colts 5-1
Titans 5-2
Browns 3-4
Jets 2-4
Steelers 2-4
Raiders 2-5

AFC a combined 19-20, not even .500.

It is difficult to believe that as horrible as the Eagles are playing this year, they have the highest winning percentage of last years NFC playoff teams. Sad and pathetic come to mind.

I guess the league loves this parity but in my opinion it is bad for the sport. I notice this year especially much less interest in the NFL even among die hard fans. The league calls it parity, I call it mediocrity which leads to a lack of interest in the end.

We've seen it in baseball, hockey .... and if the NFL thinks it is impervious to it, they should wake up. Their media money bubble may be about to burst.
