"But they need to understand that they are sworn to uphold the law of the land, not the Ten Commandments."

Can you support an specific instance where the leaders of our country have not upheld the law, so that they could uphold the 10 Commandments?

What I see is that a segment of the population does not like the laws on the books and turns to the judicial branch to make law rather than interpret the law. They support their view by attacking Christian office holders with the rant "They are forcing their values on the population to the detriment of our liberties."

Every national office holder takes an oath of office that includes the phrase "Support and defend the Constitution". The oath does not include "when it is convenient" or "when it agrees with what I want it to be".

I also see a small segment of the population that wants to deny our heritage as a nation founded for religious freedom and based upon Christian values. This vocal minority has had some success attacking the outward display of those values and expression of faith through the courts. While they would never be able to get laws supporting their point of view passed through the legislatures.
