mr. bill cut defense spending to create what you call a peace dividend. 9-11 was the peace we got. The sweeping penetration of personal computers and the internet created a period of great prosperity. And the shallow downturn most recent was greatly reduced because of the ability of all those new computers to help folks sees sooner excesses and avoid creating even more excess capacity.

Just as the law of accelerating returns postulates shorter cycles in paradigm shifts in technology. It also means that technology forcasting will shorten and make more shallow wiggles in the growth of the economy. I heard estimates of GDP growing at 6 to 7% in the next few quarters. It will be interesting to see what happens.
