Ahem... Congress gave the pres. unlimited power. There is nothing to limit Bush's profiteering rampage worldwide. The GOP has control of all branches of gov't. And the adminstration has control of the GOP. When you boil it down, you are saying the GOP is somehow our bullwark against unlimited presidential power. Certainly not the minority party. There are no checks and balances.

"He promised..." Nothing in the Constitution honors any such "promise". This is bullsh* excuses by spineless inside the beltway politicos who are looking for a weak cover story for their dereliction of duty under the Constitution.

"Bush's worst mistake was lack of diplomacy..." NO, the worst mistake was deception, outright lies and cover-ups of any accountability for what will no doubt turn out to be profiteering at a monstrous level.

"The invasion itself is still popular..." I do not believe that, after examining the polls. These questions are designed to appear like support for the invasion. No poll asks the obvious question "Considering the doubts with information on WMDs, do you think it was a good idea to invade Iraq rather than letting the inspectors do their job?" The answer to that question would be more enlightening, and I believe would be overwhelmingly against.

This is the flaw in Kerry's and Bush's public relations and positioning. People aren't stupid, altho' the carefully crafted polling is attempting to make them look that way. Both are listening to their spin doctors, and will fail.
