Can you tell me anything else about the competing product from SMIT? If it in fact turns out to be a superior product at a similar price, that could be a big problem for QC Optics. On the other hand, QC Optics seems to have a big lead on SMIT. The major hard disk manufacturers have already been evaluating QC Optics' hard disk systems, and one of them has already ordered a large number of machines from QC. This seems to indicate that they make a good product. If one or more additional hard disk manufacturers start ordering from QC, they should be in good shape. And this could happen before SMIT even introduces a competing product. If major hard disk manufacturers buy from QC and have a good experience with the machines, I would think that they'd be likely to buy from QC again in the future.

I'll probably give SMIT a call this week to see what I can find out. They might be worth investing in as well, although the stock doesn't seem quite as cheap as QC Optics is right now.
