Both have ramrod spines

Both seem to be focus-group driven and wishy-washy on their positions, imo. Clark's a new Democrat, Kerry an old one. Both look like candidates from Machine politics. New boss, same as the old boss.

This is the difference of opinion between you and I, given your acceptance of the political hierarchy and "endorsements" etc. You think because a leading party hack (or non-hack) endorses someone that means they'll become the favorite. Certainly, more party apparatus will move in their direction. But party hierarchy can't manufacture sincerity, certainly not the Dems.

The GOP is much more successful at that appearance-making -- did you happen to see 'Travels with George' ? The phony rallies were amazing. Dems can't do that, even if they had the money.
