You've assumed too much about what I do. We're talking about passing a class with a C- or D. There is no way a student can get an A from me with lots of late work. That's the way I teach "real life" and "values". The question I am interested in, is do you make them repeat the class? I feel that is a waste. And of course they have to get some work in- but it's late work. Usually produced on my lunch hour, while I stand over them with my whip. I wouldn't know what they knew if they didn't do something (except for the testing info)- but they do it late. I wouldn't pass a student who did nothing. Being in my class they have to work for 90 minutes a day, and they all have notebooks which I keep in class, with examples of in class work. Brian comes to class every day. Hasn't missed a day. He also contributes a lot orally. I should have mentioned that. But there is so much that goes in to the equation, and I forget you don't know what it's like.
