Good question. Along with that I think the better question is why we didn't have the terrorism that took place all over Europe in 70's-80's. It is hard to believe it's security, in those day the Europeans were really focused on preventing terror attacks, yet they happened almost every week in a Paris cafe or on a London subway. Those were the days when there was real terrorism, unlike these times when it is rare.

I don't know why terrorism, if you look at history, or the present for that matter, is so rare in this country. Maybe it's that our freedom and self-determination is so seductive to folks that immigrate, that they lose their hatred (???). That's got to be a pollyannish sentiment.
