And also other collateral benefits of war on terror..Miss Earth — Miss Pakistan or Miss Afghanistan?
KARACHI: Najah Ghassan, 18, will represent Pakistan at Miss Earth, 2003 international beauty pageant being held in Manila on November 9, Naomi Alseworth of the Miss Earth Pakistan Organisation told reporters here.
“Natasha Newcombe, Miss Pakistan 2003, is unable to attend Miss Earth this year, as she has her exams in November, and I believe she has a very valid reason and therefore we selected Ms Ghassan for this year’s event. She unfortunately couldn’t represent Pakistan last year, and we believe she deserves it,” she said.
“I am all ready to be the environmental emissary from Pakistan for the Miss Earth contest,” Ms Ghassan said.
She said winning or losing was not important to her. “The most important thing to me is to bring my country to spotlight, promote awareness of environment issues among the participating countries and introduce Pakistan as a new tourist destination,” she said. Ms Ghassan was part of the turmoil that hit Pakistani pageant scene in 2002, with girls being chosen, replaced and reinstated. Now she’s back, and in addition to being a pageant star again, she’s debuting in a Lollywood flick. You can see her dancing all the way to stardom this October in Manila, where her film producers plan to premiere it.
