I don't buy that. Suicide bombers are not concerned with retribution. Part of the psychology of terrorism is that the terrorist is seeking retribution.

re: Columbine, The Unabomber, Timothy McVeigh, the anthrax scare, D.C. snipers, etc. We have plenty of homegrown terrorists to worry about.

Said better than I could. You could have also mentioned the abortion clinic bombings and the southern church fires, even the attack on that gay guy in Texas. Maybe we should spend a little more time looking inside for terrorists. The incidents are certainly more frequent, if not as emotionally devastating as 9/11 was.

Anybody else have an opinion why terrorism is so rare in the US? I'm stumped.
