Perhaps they are. The economy is on weak footing at best, though I have been surprised by the strength in some of the numbers and comments this quarter. INTC, TXN, etc. have had strong results, for instance...

Telecom spending is shifting to more layer 2 and 3 boxes right now and enterprise spending has picked up a bit. Those are some positive signs. Enterprise spending signals some form of expansion which may result in more jobs. We obviously need more jobs to keep the GDP growing.

Personally, I have missed taking advantage of the rise in US stock values because I would have bet that this rally would have weakened 6-7% ago. My bets have been in Japanese small company growth and emerging markets. Both have done well.
