Yes you have to go through the same rigorous process at a gun show. All the tables are manned by dealerswith FFLs and a lot of them have stores too, but not all. I've bought a few guns at shows and every dealer required two IDs and a background check. I live in Virginia. If you are the DC Sniper, they did not purchase the weapon under the table. The Bulls Eye Gun Store had no record of the transaction because by Malvo's own admission, He shoplifted/stole the Bushmaster Rifle in question somehow, maybe with a distraction caused by Muhammad. Obviously in the best interests of the shop to stop theft--The shop is more motivated to stop such an act than the local police or ATF. No matter how you look at it, the Snipers obtained the weapon ILLEGALLY and those great gun control laws on the book were ultimately useless. We need more useless gun control laws like that <sic>.
