If what you say holds true the big news story in politics will be how the hell the democrats threw away the best chance in the world of replacing Bush. When that happens there will be a real shift and debate in the party.
Polls will continually show Dean losing to Bush no matter how many primaries he does well in.
I still consider Kerry and Clark the best candidates and the polls bear me out. Those two run at least 5% stronger against Bush than Dean does. And 5% may be more than enough to make the difference. Who wins nobody knows now. You can give hypotheticals all you want but New Hampshire is shaping up to not even be that meaningful unless Dean DOESN'T do great there. That means 45% or more.
Another thing you're forgetting is that Dean has practically no black or Hispanic support. He is only popular amongst well-educated liberal white males for some reason. The AFL-CIO also does not want Dean, nor do the Clintons, the DNC, Feinstein, Biden, Gore, anyone moderate, anyone pro-military, Rangel, most people in Hollywood, Wall Street, anyone concerned about foreign affairs, etc. These are all huge hurdles for Dean.
Sad to say for Deanies, but the deck is stacked against them all the way down the line and the farther it goes the worse it gets. If Kerry and Clark falter, Gore might even get back in to stop Dean and Clointon will make a public stand against Dean. The powers I list above will do anything they can to stop a guy like Dean from getting nominated. They have already started making their moves, but their real moves have not been made yet. It's all about beating Bush, remember that, a fact Deanies have not yet grasped. |
