The following is being passed on. Immediately afterwards is important information regarding your rights and what you can and should do if something similar happens. [Redacted] wrote: Hi, The other day, two FBI agents came to the home of [redacted] of Voter March - DC to interrogate him on the Saturday demonstration in Washington, DC. [redacted] also is our [redacted] for the Washington, DC chapter of our affiliate [redacted]org [His] 20 year old daughter who worked on the Wellstone campaign was present during the questioning.
[redacted] was questioned on certain messages he posted on a Citizens for Legitimate Government Yahoo group in which he was advocating protesting against Fox News. [He] was also asked to provide the FBI with names of any radicals, the names of organizations he belongs to, and any information relating to the Oct. 25th protests. [Please read what your rights are in the face of such questioning]
Following the FBI interrogation, [he] and his daughter were upset and [he] fainted and had to be admitted to a local hospital for a short period of time.
This is evidence that the FBI are monitoring many of the message boards as part of their Patriot Act duties. You should also be careful not to join groups that the FBI views as radical or revolutionary and not to make any inflammatory posts. If you are contacted by the FBI, advise them that you are only involved in peaceful protests and do not provide them with any more information than is appropriate under the circumstances. ______________________________________________________________________________________________
The FBI does monitor many online groups. A poster to CLG received a visit from the FBI after making some posts. Because of that I have reprinted a portion of the NLG pamphlet "Know Your Rights". I find it interesting that the line of questioning seemed to be concerned with the upcoming Oct. 25 protest in Washington D.C. It seems the FBI is more interested in the actions of American Patriots than in investigating all the criminal acitivites of this administration, or the voting equipment vendors (who have broken federal and state laws in interstate commerce). Of course it is much easier to investigate ordinary citizens who are exercising their Constitutional Rights, they don't normally have lawyers on retainer.
I would also recommend that people join the National Lawyers Guild, you never know when you might need them.
I have printed out and posted above my desk the National Lawyers Guild pamphlet, "Know Your Rights". I would recommend that everyone go online, print it out, and read it. Then have the contact names and phone numbers in your wallet. It can be found at:

It can be viewed either as a PDF or HTML |
