what has the US done to convince the world that we think all Muslims are terrorists? have we said that? have we declared all Muslim nations enemies? have we taken action against them? what?

The real question is, will you buy into anything, including the paranoid delusions of the Arab world, if it helps you to hate George W Bush? Will you sneer at George Bush if he's surprised that most Muslims believe that Jews rule the world, too?

LOL... Very good questions, NC.

I am not a linguist and not a logician, but it seems to me that the very nature of language is somewhat linear and logical. We start off with certain notions, and after a while, the logic of our thoughts - as they flow out of and as they follow each other - begins to sound convincing to us - and, perhaps in some sort of a circular way may even begin to "confirm" the positions with which we started in the first place.

Unless we start out with concepts which are "superbly correct" and our thinking and discourse will remain "all-inclusive" as we proceed along the way (which is practically impossible) - we are by and large guaranteed to wonder off into "niche thinking" of some sort or another. To put it very simply, Garbage in - Garbage out.

To avoid that, it is important to keep asking simple basic questions.

Sometimes, reading the articulate posts on this thread, many of which would put to shame most of the "professionals", I wonder: Does anyone here seriously think that if the US becomes more "evenhanded" in relation to Israel - or abandons Iraq - and/or makes some other policy adjustments - that would be enough to placate the Al Qaedists and their ilk - and to bring about lasting peace?

My take is that they would merely have a party to celebrate their victory in this round - and would start getting ready for the next one.
