I care because what happens in California often sets a trend for the rest of the country. Prop 13 is the best example of that. (I also go there a lot and have lots of friends and relatives there, so for them I also care.)

If the orgiastic spending culture in Sacramento is brought to its knees by this, what they tried there won't happen here, in the heartland. We have a relatively new governor in our state, and you can rest assured that he is watching what is happening out there very closely.
