Anyone have software, tip sheets, etc. for organizing and reducing clutter on a Windows desktop?

Sure use the Desktop Cleanup Wizard if you are running Windows XP. Right click on desktop, next click on "Properties", next click on Tab labeled "Desktop", next click on "Customize Desktop" box, next click on "Clean Desktop Now" box, you will then get the "Welcome to Desktop Cleanup Wizard" message. Clicking on "Next" will produce a list of all of your Desktop Icons and the dates each one was most recently used. Follow the on screen instructions to send little used desktop shortcuts to the "Recycled Bin"
For additional information look up "Desktop Cleanup Wizard" in Windows XP "Help and Support"
