Update on the fires from National News said 500 homes burned, and 11 dead. Update from a friend of mine in the thick of it is that 1/3 of San Diego County has been directly affected. People burning in their cars. All Highways closed and thousands of homes evacuated. Santa Anna winds died down, but wind from fire itself propels it eastward and all directions. Fire in Lakeside, El Cajon, and Alpine. Numbers from the news, according to my friend, should be multiplied by 100(insists no exageration). Worst fire ever. No firefighters present in most cases(spread too thin). Smoke is so thick it was night at mid-day.
