The biggest fire started near Rancho Cucamonga, they suspect it's arson. One was near Lytle Creek, a perennial hotspot, but there's not much housing there. Claremont, Old Waterman Road, were two more fires, or outgrowths of the previous ones. The most damaging fires seem to be the San Bernardino fire, Simi Valley, and San Diego. About a dozen people have been killed, some in San Diego were caught in their cars as they tried to escape. 650 homes had burned last time I heard the news.

The big worry is for Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead. A huge fire is climbing the mountain, and if it can't be stopped the houses burnt down will run into the thousands.
