Joe: Forgot to mention I watched PBS "Revenge of the Nerds" today and finally got to see what you're talking about--Ballmer deserves all the compliments you've given him and then some. I'd have said "oily" but your complimentary "slimeball" term was pretty good--maybe a little understated. Gates came off as a very rotten and paranoid little worm--the nicest compliment he got was that he values the business so much that he puts "people under" everything else. The typical "Microsoftie" was described as a "25 year old male who's known as a Microsurfer after awhile when he gets to the place where he realizes there is no life outside Microsoft." And, of course, that's with Bill's blessing. Two came off especially well--Steve Jobs came off as one of the good guys and Larry Ellison of Oracle came off as having a good head on his shoulders. IBM came off as being sucker-punched by Gates and Ballmer and, of course, Apple came off as the doofus that was tricked by the Windows team--the program clearly stated that Windows was not the brainchild of you-know-who. All-in-all, it appears that high tech is a fast-moving, dangerous, and, in the end, a very dirty business. In the end, if you get my point.

:)

BTW, I threw some "mad money" at UIS at about the same time I bought this "value" stock; this one's cost basis is about 11 and UIS is 5 1/2; now the potential "loser" UIS is around 11 or just about doubled and the "value" stock is...well, you know the rest, unfortunately. Ain't life a kick in the pants!
