Because some of us have the sense to live BELOW our means for long periods of time and accumulate and then use capital?

Nobody said you were going to end up solvent at retirement if you have a party all your life. Only fools believe that.

And don't give me crap about unequal starts, supporting families, blah, blah, blah. I personally know about a dozen non-native-English-speaking immigrants to this country who got here with the shirts on their backs and little else and now are have accumulated signioficant wealth through thrift and dedicated long hard work and are doing fine.

Character and determination count buddy. Only Democrats think otherwise.
