HP and Terremark Announce Permanent Home for NAP do Brasil
MIAMI & SAO PAULO, Brazil, Oct 27, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) --HP (NYSE:HPQ), a leading global provider of, solutions, services,products and technologies to consumers and businesses and TerremarkWorldwide, Inc. (AMEX:TWW), a leading operator of integrated Tier-1Network Access points (NAPs) and best-in-class data centers, announcedan agreement to provide a permanent home for the NAP do Brasil,presently located in FAPESP's (Fundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estadodo Sao Paulo) office building in Sao Paulo. The permanent NAP will belocated in HP's new data center in the Alphaville area, a high techoriented suburb of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Under the terms of the contract, HP will provide a carrier grade,state-of-the-art data center to house the permanent NAP do Brasil,featuring leading-edge technology, modeled after Terremark's Tier-1carrier-neutral NAP of the Americas in Miami, Florida. The existingNAP do Brasil has more than 30 carriers, backbone providers, ISPs, andcontent providers, some of which already have points of presence atHP's facilities
This agreement is consistent with Terremark's internationalexpansion model which contemplates a local in-country partner, such asHP, to own, fund and build-out the facility and Terremark to operateand manage the NAP and become the primary tenant in our partners'facility.
