Chuck - As I think I have pointed out here, Intel has at least 10 engineers on site at Microsoft doing 64 bit work , sometimes more, and they have direct access to the 64 bit code line both there and on the Intel campus. If there is an active 64 bit extension program (which few can doubt at this point) then surely Intel is developing the tools and OS support they will need.

That does not get applications and drivers written, which is why I think they will do a compatible superset.

Still, there are many hurdles even for mighty Intel
