Burger King, Home of the Whopper, presents a new daily feature:
Lies From The Archives
From AS's storied past, a collection of lies and factual inaccuracies and distortions are littered across SI. Your mission is to find them and post them here.
The winner each day will get a free day's eats at Burger King, beginning with French Toast Sticks and a large Coca-Cola for breakfast, a double Whopper with cheese and bacon for lunch, and for that healthy touch at dinner, a new healthy Santa Fe Chicken Baguette with a side salad and a Diet Coke for dinner. Apple pie with each meal is optional.

And now for my entry for today: AS lies about its own age!
Here's the exchange:
DG: "AS How old are you? Are you still in school?"
AS: "47"
[a few days later]
AS: "I was 15 when Carter was running. I predicted he would win even ebfore anyone took him seriously and I was right. After that I have predicted every election correctly."
DG: "How do you explain this post? "
Message 19352925
AS: "Just do the math and quit calling me a liar, you lame-brain. I know how old I was when Carter was running. And I don't need you trying to correct me. Dont you have something better to do with your life? "
DG: "AS Did you not lie a few days ago stating you were 47? Are you 47?"
AS: "47. Carter ran 31-32 years ago = figure it out genius." [editor's note: Carter first ran 27 years ago]
Cactus Jack: "Carter ran for President and was elected in 1976. If you were 15 at the time, that would make you 42-43 years old. How old are you really?"
AS: "Well then I was an older teenager. Who cares?"
DG: "It's about being honest, something you seem to have trouble relating to. BTW, does your friend???? John Kerry expect you to be honest? "
AS: "I never lie. Sometimes I get numbers wrong. Who cares? If I was 18 instead of 15 who cares? You need a life, sir."
DG: "You mean you often lie and exaggerate."
AS: "I never lie on these threads. Sorry. I apologize I said I was 15 and was really 17 or 18."
And the beat goes on.... Of course, if AS is 47 now it would mean that instead of being 15 when Carter ran she would have been 20, or at least 19. The difference, of course, is that at 19 or 20 she would have been eligible to vote; at 15 not eligible. Don't you think that someone who lives, eats, and excretes politics would remember which Presidential election she first voted in? I remember the first Carter election because I couldn't vote; I remember the second one because I could vote. This is not simply a matter of AS being a bit mistaken. It's an outright fabrication.
