Don't write Bush off. He may be slow, but when it comes to politics he is not dumb.

He can solve the Iraq problem by recalling the Iraqi army, withdrawing US troops to bases, and declaring peace with honor.

And, don't forget that the key to his reelection is the economy. He has moved heaven and earth to make it look good during the crucial months before the elections, and, IMO, has a fair chance of succeeding.
