It's starting to look like a Vietnam sequel. The hardest polical decision is to quit, after investing 100's of American lives, probably 10,000 Iraqi lives, $Billions of dollars, and international political capitol. Does this thing go on and on and on, getting incrementally worse? When do you pull the plug, and say "we fu--ed up"? It's the hardest decision to make, as Vietnam demonstrated really well.
JF,
I believe you are one of the more ignorant individuals on this thread concerning this matter. While I think tejek & Al are out of it, I believe theirs is principally partisanship. But your continued references to Vietnam just scream ignorance.
It is as though you think that post-Vietnam, the United States should have given up its right to self-defense for fear of another Vietnam-like quagmire. We were attacked, you know? Need I remind you that Vietnam was the product of weak liberal presidents, not that of a strong, determined administration such as the current one?
Perhaps you're unaware of it, but there is general consensus that the failure in Vietnam was due largely to one problem: The liberal presidents were so chickensh*t to commit all the resources needed to win the war, that they ended up killing 58,300 American soldiers, a little at a time. Please tell me how the current conflict is, in any way, similar to Vietnam? |
