Microsemi Introduces 27-Line Regulator for Low Voltage Differential SCSI Applications

Monday October 27, 8:33 am ET

-- Provides Correct Reference Voltages and Bias Currents

# IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 2003-- -- Performance Compliant to Ultra2, Ultra160 and Ultra320Aimed at Server, Workstation, Data Storage Markets

Microsemi Corp. (Nasdaq:MSCC - News) a leading manufacturer of analog and mixed signal integrated circuits, announced today that its Integrated Products Group has introduced a new 27-line source/sink regulator designed to provide correct reference voltages and bias currents for low voltage differential SCSI applications.

Designated the LX5261(TM), the new regulator is compliant with SCSI SPI-2 (Ultra2), SPI-3 (Ultra 160), and SPI-4 (Ultra320) specification standards used in high speed data transmission applications including LVD termination, terminator cable assemblies, servers, workstations and RAID data storage equipment.

"Our LX5261 provides a cost competitive pin-for-pin alternative to leading regulators currently available in this market," said Paul Pickle, marketing vice president at Microsemi's Integrated Products Group.

The LX5261 provides two independent 1.75V and 0.75V fixed regulated outputs, each capable of sourcing/sinking 200mA, plus a buffered 1.3V output for DIFSENS signaling. On-chip trimming of the internal voltage enables precise output voltages, typically +/- 1% of its specified value. Thermal shutdown and current limiting are also integrated on chip.

The LX5261 is available in an industry standard 16-pin SOIC plastic package, priced at $0.94 in 10K quantities. Samples and production quantities are available immediately.
