re: The bill that Bush submitted had about $20bil for rebuilding Iraq. That's something like 1/5th of 1% of our GDP and less then 1% of Federal spending.

And since we are already in deficit spending, it all goes to the federal "bottom line", in addition to the subsequent interest payments for the length of the bonds that must be sold.

I said before, I would like to see an incremental war tax. A one shot deal up front. Each tax payer gets an invoice for, say, $499.95 to support the war.
