I know this is a bit off topic and Frank can squash it if he wants, but I don't understand why people are so mad at the mutual fund market timers. I can see why the late-traders (placing trades after the deadline) are getting in trouble. They were breaking the rules. But the timers were using information that was freely available to everybody and placing trades that anybody could place. They were working completely within the system. If anybody should be on the hook for this activity it should be the folks who set up a system with such an obvious hole in it in the first place. If anybody can tell me why we should be sore at these guys I would really appreciate it.
