Yeah, we ought to close down the Army staff colleges and just let the Best and the Brightest civilians run the show. That worked great when MacNamara and his whiz kids tried it, so let's do it again with Rumsfeld.

Shinseki and his staff claimed that it would require 200,000 troops to conquer and occupy Iraq. Rumsfeld knew better. That's why GIs are serving back to back deployments. Neither they nor their equipment is getting rested and repaired. And of course, the number of troops deployed in the Gulf continues to inch up towards the number the know-nothing professionals claimed at the start.

Shinseki may be a closet Democrat, a high crime that, but there's also all the 3 stars who Rumsfeld cleared out along with Shinseki. While all those 3 stars may have been part of a Democrat sleeper cell, it may also be that Rumsfeld is sending the message that only yes-men are going to go far in his Army.
