These days, the more I experience the situation in postwar Iraq, the more I think of France. After all, both countries were freed from despotic madmen largely through the efforts of the United States.

France was freed from a German despot, not a French one, and the "liberation" of Iraq is an American coinage, not an Iraqi one. I don't think anyone seriously believes that we invaded to save the Iraqis from Saddam.

Much talk, little substance....
