"It is possible to examine the whole of creation to search for evidence of fairies"

Hardly...we cannot even examine the most infinitesimal part of the earth! As magical creatures, they elude us whenever they choose to.

"In other words, they disprove the existence of fairies except as a source of fantasy"

The "Jinn" of the Koran are the Arabic equivalent of sprites and fairies. Perhaps if we search "the whole of creation" we may disprove your notion that the unseen are merely mythological!

"The extraordinary belief in God is accountable by the extraordinary drive human beings have regarding order and purpose."

Karen asked a good question a few weeks ago. She asked if oeder was extrinsic or imposed from within. Of course one can believe that order exists; and one may wish to infer that the order was designed by a creator; but none of this brings one any closer to proof.

Indeed, equally unprovable is entirely different than equally unlikely.

The likelihood of creatures with powers unknown to science (invisibility, for instance) is far greater than the likelihood of a creature who infinitely transcends matural law. Therefore, there is far better reason to be agnostic about fairies (who are common-place in old sightings and records, and who may have been aliens or anything at all), than there is to be agnostic about a creature conjectured with infinite powers whose existence would contradict ALL the laws of existence as we know them.
