I was thinking as I read the breathless headlines this morning of another soldier dead in Iraq what would have happened if we had had the internet and the current crop of journalists in place in WW II. If they wring their hands over one or two combat deaths a day, what would they have done with D-Day, with the Battle of the Bulge, with Guadalcanal, and the like? If they balk at helping the Iraquis rebild, think of the horror of spending all that money on the Marshall Plan, especially rebuilding that wicked enemy nation, Germany. Or financing the Berlin airlift.

It boggles the mind.
