Folks, The problem with the collision radius for Gigabit Ethernet has been solved. Carrier Extension with packet burst for half-duplex connections, but more importantly full-duplex. Virtually all Gigabit Ethernet implementations today are using full-duplex connections. This solution provides full bandwidth, and eliminates the collision radius mentioned earlier. A few companies are shipping standard full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet products today.
