The u-boats were found because they were ordered to radio in their positions while at sea. So the allies having the enigma code broken had the u-boat positions. Just had to go out and get them. Then came radar and they couldn't come up for air without a bomb down their throat. Enigma gave the close position and radar pinpointed them. If the German's had just had radar detectors. uboat.net The stupidity of Hitler, of course, was a great aid. Stopping jet and nuclear devlopment early in the war was a great aid, as was attacking Russia while Britain was still viable. Hitler was the best general the Allies had That's very true. His conviction was he was gifted and infallible because early on he accidentally made a few good decisions. He had some of the best Generals in the world yet he would not listen to them. No wonder some wanted to get rid of him. They wanted to save Germany. You got your break. The Germans were in fact developing a rocket which they planned to use un the US. Given enough time- -and sitting back and letting them come to you as you advocate wouldn't have given them that time- -they eventually would have straightened out their nuclear screw-ups and got The Bomb. Remember, at the start of the war the best nuclear scientists were German. I'm not sure how that would have played out had we left Germany alone. Hitler did not want war with the allies or England. He was forced into it because they declared war on him when he invaded Poland, then again when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Hitler's big beef was the advance of Communism which he viewed (as did much of the world) as a jewish plot. He wanted to defeat the USSR and did not want a 2 front war.
