The Iraqis proceeded to shoot up the lightly armored Apaches, downing at least one and shooting holes through the rest. Don't blame Rummy for the Apaches.That is not the "light" that is being talked about. Bad weapons system from the git-go. The Army needs "Warthog" type of aircraft. Did you know that the Air Force offered the Warthog to the Army in the early 90s and they wouldn't even consider taking them? Now the Air Force is phasing them out. Lots of bad weapon choices out there. They really need to get rid of the separate service Secretaries and have Assistant Defense Secretaries instead. But DOD and Congress are so in bed that it takes a major act of God to change things. The new COS of the Army is one hell of a good choice, IMO. For the first time since the start of WWII, you are going to see soldiers assigned to units long term. A lot like the old British Regiment system.
