to what extent was the 3rd Q a bubble, thanks to those tax rebates? Taking that into consideration the present quarter is going to be far more telling as to the strength and depth of the nascent recovery, methinks.

As well, watch interest rates. As demand for capital begins to butt up against the government's need to finance this massive deficit (with more to come), rate creep is likely to begin. Should that be the case, all those 0 interest car loans may become a thing of the past, thus depressing auto sales. Car sales have been supported by these financing deals and if production volume drops average unit cost will increase at the same time the cost of money increases. That could be a double whammy for both the industry and the economy in general.

FWIW.

Uh, oh, does this make me the resident gloom and doom guy, taking over from M1?
