I don’t know what the attachment mechanism is. We have dual elements of existence that are “doing and being”. Our mind is a mortal vehicle that “is” and “does.” The mind can be impressed in ways that are noble and beautiful or disturbed and perverse. Using our minds we make choices that may promote illumination and goodness or oppression and destruction. We choose because we have the unrequited will to pick a path. Using your will you can direct your mind, in association with your personality, to make choices that help your soul to evolve along a spiritual path to eternity or to destroy your soul. Your soul is the core of your personality. It is also a partial reflection of an associated eternal image of infinite perfection.
