I agree with everything you have said. I was just offering a peg for the reason why people choose to do evil things and to justify them. The more we understand the mechanism, the more likely it is that we will be able to intervene effectively.

In the case of terrorists, we might be able make a difference if we can communicate with them in regards to the totality of the situation. Like wise with horrendous agendas and bit players. Bit players who were impressed with the totality of the Viet Nam war era made a difference once the conscience of America was raised and they began to exercise their freedom of conscience.
